I absolutely love having a Guest Room again! Technically this is my oldest son’s room when he visits so I tried to be mindful of the colors that were used. Lots of olive green, grey and taupe. Given I was doing this with a budget in mind, hopefully many of these items will have an affordability appeal.

Things I loved and things I would change:
- I absolutely love the paint color, Taupe of the Morning, but not the paint itself. I decided to color drench the room and loved the effect as it made it cozy. By drenching, this means that the ceiling, molding and walls were the same color. To be aware, drenching may not be the best option for a very small room or a room with a minimal amount of natural light.
- Taupe of the Morning is a Sherwin Williams Paint. It is part of their Designer Series so it was costly. I am all for good quality paint but I don’t feel the coverage was great in that we needed multiple coats for the walls. I would consider these colors – Benjamin Moore: Muslin, Fossil or Plaster of Paris. Also, from Portola I would consider Patagonia or Kashmir.
- I did break the design rule deliberately when it came to the height of the side dressers. I really wanted drawer space. What I found is that so many beds are lower than the side tables. Those side tables that are the correct height, relative to the bed, had maybe one thin drawer if that.
- This Amazon mattress is wonderful. So many compliments.
- These Amazon curtains with black out, I love! For the price and quality, these are a winner.
- For a designer look, hang curtains high. These curtains are 102″ long.
I will be brightening up the bedding for the Spring and Summer and will share.
